A long time ago, I took to the online handle Get Local Girl. It's always been my thing to get local and support the artists and craftspeople as well as local businesses. This was way before American Express' Shop Local campaigns. That is why I was so excited when I met Claire Jones of The General Store Seattle! And, it was a pleasure to photograph the first annual Life Life Local Convention she hosted here in West Seattle's Youngstown Cultural Arts Center. The best part, of course, was getting to know a new group of local businesses. I picked up a few Christmas gifts too, even though I was planning on only working the event, not shopping! Here's a peek at the fun: For the next couple of weeks, I will highlight local businesses where you can find lovely gifts before the frenzy of holiday shopping sales. But for now, I want you all to check out The General Store Seattle. They sell a variety of local made items from around Washington state, and have just started offering gift boxes with themes such as Cat Lover or Seahawks Fan box. And check out our Facebook page, where we'll be sharing other local art shows, fairs and chances to support local businesses during the busiest holiday shopping season!
